The Porto desk was born from the idea of creating a mobile workstation that can be moved freely around the office. For this reason, many analogies from public transport were taken up, such as the luggage rack. If a bag is placed on it, it indicates that the desk is occupied.

The desk space is comparatively small, as it can be assumed that the nomadic worker of today does not need as much space as someone who works from a fixed location. All that is needed to work is a laptop, something to write on and maybe a coffee-to-go.

The height of the desk can be adjusted and fixed by means of a rotating mechanism. This allows the desk to be used sitting or standing, as required.

To be able to move Porto around the office, it is equipped with big castor wheels. Furthermore, its base is equipped with a footrest.

Porto is designed for working contexts where it is important to be able to adjust the spatial arrangement of the furniture as needed.

Whether a discussion group is to be set up, work is to be carried out in a group or concentrated individual work is required, many different scenarios can be set up with Porto.

A possible scenario would be that a co-working space is equipped with numerous Porto desks, and you simply drive your desk to the place where you would like to work for the day.

Like a shopping trolley, several Porto desks can be pushed together compactly.

The ergonomics of the concept were tested using a simplified model made of roof battens.
